The goal of sustainable or ‘green’ design is to create high performance buildings that result in minimal environmental impact, reduced infrastructure and efficient building operations. Equally important, green buildings lead to increased facility assets, increased worker productivity and reduction in risk management. At Axiom, we understand that environmental, social and economic goals must be balanced in order to achieve a successful project. Our expertise goes beyond design, into construction and facility management.
LEED Assessments Recognizing this, Axiom serves as a mentor on many of these projects. By performing a LEED Assessment early on, we create a working document for the entire teams use. A LEED Assessment averages 30 pages, and is provided in a narrative style. It includes an assessment of each LEED credit and its applicability to the project. Included with each credit will be a series of action items or next steps for the team to further pursue. We also include our recommended level of LEED certification to pursue. If sufficient information is available at the time of review, we include preliminary calculations. In this manner, we can assist in educating the team in a very cost efficient manner. It also allows us the opportunity to share our unique hands on experience with the different LEED ratings systems, and include nuances that most teams won’t experience until they have been through the complete process. LEED Project Preliminary ReviewsMany of our clients choose to utilize Axiom to provide a preliminary Design or Construction review prior to submission to USGBC. This is a very economical solution to having a full time LEED Consultant on the project. Axiom will review the information that the team has compiled and uploaded to LEEDonline and note discrepancies. This results in a much cleaner submission to USGCB, and eliminates many of the trivial items that are rejected the first time by inexperienced teams. Open Consulting AgreementsAxiom also provides ‘as-needed’ consulting services to project teams. This service is typically offered in conjunction with a LEED Assessment, and is used to assess unique aspects of the project. This ‘as needed’ basis is typically used for assessment of new or unique assemblies, specialized credit pursuit (such as CIR’s), coordination or items across multiple projects, coordination of sustainable charettes, Innovation credit structuring and review, etc. Billed on an hourly basis, this service can drastically reduce the fees that are typically associated with LEED Consulting costs while still having the security of having an expert available.. Public RelationsAxiom continues to be a resource to the building community through the free distribution our monthly newsletter. With currently over 20,000 subscribers, we are an excellent resource for the ever-changing policies and procedures that are occurring within USGBC, GBCI, and multiple LEED rating systems. Due to our high distribution rate, this provides an excellent opportunity to showcase our client’s success stories. Education and TrainingAxiom is a continuing education provider for multiple professional organizations that are involved in the built environment. We are currently a registered education provider for the AIA/CES and USGBC/GBCI program.
